John Hamm

Assistant Coach

Coach John will be helping out wherever needed this season. Having participated in competitive sports for most of his life, Coach John was looking for a new challenge when he decided to try his first Xterra off-road triathlon at the age of 40. It didn’t go as well as he hoped, but fast forward five years and in 2014 he completed 4 Xterra races, finished the season ranked 7th in the Southeast and earned his first trip to the Xterra U.S. Championships. He also completed his first half-Ironman race in 2014 and went on to a great performance at his first Ironman at Lake Placid in 2015. John has always enjoyed working with kids, including being a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters, and is excited to help kids experience triathlon (and maybe learn something from his mistakes!).

Matt Butler

Matt is an avid runner, and enjoys competing in 5ks, 10k’s, marathons, ultra marathons, and triathlons. He makes a living as a musician, but health, fitness, and nutrition are an integral part of his lifestyle. (He is currently studying to complete his certification for personal strength and conditioning trainer). Matt loves coaching the AERO kids, and also coaches baseball with East Nashville Little League.
